Arnolds Park, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Those using an ATV for transportation during the University of Okoboji Winter Games this weekend, be aware of what is required:

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says ATVs can only travel maximum speed of 35 miles per hour, and can not operate on state highways like Highway 71.

Krull recommends additional road safety for anyone traveling this weekend:

The Iowa Hands-Free Law is in effect, and Krull says the fine is now $170, so keep the phone on a hands-free setup or pull over if you need to use it.

Krull says law enforcement will increase over the busy Winter Games weekend, and he says safety for all starts with a plan BEFORE you go.
