Sioux Rapids, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Sioux Central girls and boys’ basketball hosted South Central Calhoun on Monday night. Big Country 107.7 brought you the game with Matt Groenewold on the call.

Sioux Central got out to a 12-9 lead in the girls contest in the first quarter. The Titans responded by outscoring the Rebels in the 2nd quarter 16-13, tying the game at the halftime break.

It was a high scoring 3rd quarter where Sioux Central posted 21 points to South Central Calhoun’s 16, getting their lead up to 5 going into the 4th quarter.

The Rebels opened it up in the last 8 minutes, outscoring the Titans 27-8 down the stretch to run away with a 73-49 win.

Avery Wilson posted a whopping 32 points in the win. Maitlyn Trierweiler, Marley Madsen, and Sage Weber also were in double figures. Sioux Central improves to 12-3 this season with a 5-2 league mark.

South Central Calhoun drops to 4-12 this season and 1-6 in Twin Lakes Conference play. Blair Schleisman led the Titans with 22 points in the loss.

For the boys contest, Sioux Central outscored South Central Calhoun 15-9 in the 1st quarter. That lead grew to 16 at the half after the Rebels outscored the Titans 17-7 in the 2nd.

The lead continued to balloon win the 3rd with Sioux Central scoring another 15 to South Central Calhoun’s 12. The Rebels would hold that lead through the 4th and win 59-40.

South Central Calhoun was led by Charlie Natress’ 16 in the loss as the Titans fall to 7-8 this season and 3-4 in the Twin Lakes Conference.

Sioux Central was paced by 20 from Jack Christian. There were only four scorers for the Rebels in the win, all were in double figures. Sioux Central is now 11-2 this season with a 6-1 Conference mark.
