Spencer, IA (KICD)– We are just days away from the start of the Clay County Fair which has health officials putting out the annual reminder to do everything possible to stay healthy.

Angel Smith from Clay County Public Health says proper handwashing after being around animals is one of the most important things to think about before heading to food row for that first corndog.

As many have likely noticed, weather can be very unpredictable this time of year which can make sun-related problems a bit of an afterthought.

Trained medical staff are on the fairgrounds during normal operating hours and can assist in the event of an emergency while also manning the health trailer just east of the Depot building.
