Spencer, IA (KICD)– A Spencer man is facing a number of charges after police executed a search warrant at an apartment on the southwest side of town earlier this week.

Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton tells KICD News 42-year-old Leon Banks was taken into custody on Wednesday after officers executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 500 block of 8th Street Southwest that reportedly yielded multiple controlled substances and a firearm.

As a result, Banks has been charged with possession of cocaine, LSD and marijuana all with intent to deliver along with failing to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of firearm as an ineligible person and possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Banks is being held in the Clay County Jail on 50 thousand dollars bond and faces a possible penalty enhancement due to the violations occurring within 1000 feet of a public school.
