Spencer, IA (KICD)– The long awaited upgrade to the traffic signal system in Downtown Spencer has been completed for a couple of weeks now and there has been some curiosity on how they work.

Public Works Director Mark White explained to the City Council that the new system is set up to adjust to traffic flow.

White further notes a series of reasons including upgrade timing were responsible for the project coming in nearly three thousand dollars over budget starting with some of the phasing work.

The Downtown Signal project had been in the works for some time when it became apparent that the then current system had aged to the point that replacement parts were hard to come by.
