Marcus, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Explosions are not UNCOMMON facilities that handle grain. Cherokee County Emergency Management Director Justin Pritts tells KICD News there appeared to have been TWO explosions around 4 Monday afternoon East of Marcus.

Pritts says emergency crews including the Marcus Fire Department were on the scene for less than an hour and a half before releasing the facility back to the company.

Little Sioux Corn Processers has issued a statement thanking emergency responders for their service and prompt action. At last report the receiving facility where the explosions occurred South of the railroad track remains closed, but the ethanol production facility on the North side of the track continues to operate.
