Algona, IA (KICD)– A officer with the Algona Police Department has died after being shot while attempting to make an arrest Tuesday evening.

Iowa Department of Public Safety Assistant Director Mitch Mortvedt says the Algona community was advised to lock their doors while law enforcement searched for Ricke who was taken into custody several hours later.

Officer Kevin Cram was a ten year veteran of law enforcement joining the Algona Police Department in 2015 after serving in Nora Springs.
