Estherville, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — March 23rd throught the 27th is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa with many emergency warning systems being tested. Emmet County, though, will be conducting an unscheduled test of of its outdoor warning sirens today.
Emergency Management Director Travis Sheridan says new equipment was recently installed at the dispatch center in Estherville so they’ll check to make sure the warning sirens can be activated remotely in Estherville, Gruver, Wallingford, Armstrong, and county parks.

The National Weather Service from Sioux Falls has also announced its schchedule of Skywarn Severe Weather Spotter Training sessions this spring. Local training session will be held in Milford March 26th and Sheldon March 30th. The classes are free and open to the public.
