Arnolds Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Organizers of the Okoboji Blue Water Festival yesterday announced that event will not continue. Over ten years the weekend had grown to include education, children’s activities, and a Saturday night concert with nationally-known talent.
A statement from founder Greg Drees thanks sponsors and volunteers for their past support and asks them to continue supporting clean water initiatives in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Dickinson County Supervisor Steve Clark says to his understanding the festival was cancelled due to rising costs and a lack of sponsorships. He says he’s sad to see the festival end and says water quality is important for the future of the Iowa Great Lakes region.
This year’s event had been planned for August 8th.
