Des Moines, IA (KICD)– Much of the Upper Midwest, including the local area is in its first visit of truly fall-like air as we enter the weekend.

Temperatures in the lower 50s on Friday paired with northwest winds gusting to forty miles per hour will definitely make it feel colder than it really is before temperatures drop to near freezing tonight making frost a strong possibility for Saturday morning which State Climatologist Justin Glisan says is not exactly uncommon for this time of the year.

Freeze warnings and frost advisories will take effect during the overnight hours for the entire area and last into Saturday morning before we temporarily warm things back up for Sunday with highs expected to reach the middle 60s.
