Washington, DC (KICD) — The first case of avian influenza in a domestic flock since April has been confirmed at a turkey farm in Jerrauld County, South Dakota. Nearly 48 thosuand birds are in that flock – which must be euthanized.
High Path Avian Influenza is a major concern in the KICD Broadcast area, which is a MAJOR turkey and egg producing region.
The last case of HPAI confirmed locally was a 28 thousand head turkey flock in Buena Vista County on January 23rd. The last reported case of the disease in Iowa was March 15th in Chickasaw County in a non-poultry bird.
