Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The City of Storm Lake is looking at some potential changes to rate structures at the King’s Pointe outdoor waterpark that also serves at the municipal pool as money deficits continue to stack up.
City Finance Director Brian Oakleaf noted during a work session with the City Council Monday night that the losses in revenue are in the tens of thousands of dollars that are essentially being eaten by the resort side of King’s Pointe.
Oakleaf suggested that perhaps it is time to start looking at raising daily and season rates to help make up for an increase in operating costs.
Oakleaf notes the idea of a municipal pool is not to make the city a large amount of money, but in his opinion many facility users would expect some of the increase in costs to be pushed their way over time.
