Spencer, IA (KICD)– What is perhaps one of the spookiest nights of the year is only about 24 hours away, but while Halloween is meant to be fun, safety also has to be kept in mind.

Laura Manwarren is the Safety Director for Spencer Hospital. She notes there are a number of different things to keep in mind when it comes selecting the perfect costume including if it will allow the wearer to be warm on cold night like what is expected this year.

Then once home, Manwarren suggests parents keep their kids from enjoying their sweet treats until they can be looked over.

Official Trick-or-Treating hours may vary by community, with recommended times falling between five and eight Tuesday evening in Spencer. Trick-or-treaters are also reminded it is safest to go to houses they know and that have an outside light turned on.
