Spencer, IA (KICD)– The holiday driving season is upon us which has local law enforcement urging safety in hopes of reducing the number of fatalities on Iowa roads.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says last year’s Thanksgiving weekend resulted in some less than ideal statistics when it comes to serious crashes.
Trooper Krull adds that this time of year is perhaps one of the worst for law enforcement to have to make notification to family that someone they care about was seriously hurt or killed in a preventable incident.
The latest fatality count has 325 people having lost their lives on Iowa roads in 2023, already well above the annual goal of 300 or less.
