Spencer, IA (KICD) — US Senator Joni Ernst visited a Spencer-based auto parts dealer on Wednesday where she heard concerns about the right to repair automobiles that are regulated by proprietary computers owned by the manufacturer.

Ernst says your onboard computer tracks your driving habits and even your weight, creating privacy concerns. But they also might be a tool to tax electric cars for highway repairs.

Senator Ernst also visited the Regional Wellness Center in Estherville as part of her tour to the KICD Broadcast area.
