Spencer, IA (KICD)– After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for some, exterior structure work began last week on Spencer Hospital’s new Emergency Department.

President Brenda Tiefenthaler told the Board of Trustees that the giant crane that has been dotting the Spencer skyline for the last couple of weeks was finally put into action.

Angela McCaulley with CMBA Architects added that there was some additional work being done before the crane started moving to make sure crews could take full advantage of good weather conditions.

The crane is expected to be on site for six to eight weeks with steel placement moving from east to west on what used to a portion of city street.
