Washington, DC (KICD) — KICD News reached out to Northwest Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra when the new appointments to the House Agriculture Committee were announced.  Feenstra frequently touts the importance of Agriculture to the 4th district and was proud of winning a spot on the committee as a Freshman.  New Republican Chair GT Thompson of Pennsylvania released the roster Wednesday and it included Iowa’s new Freshman Congressman Zach Nunn from the 3rd district in Southwest Iowa but not Feenstra.

Congressman Feenstra got back to us Thursday afternoon and explained that he has won a spot on the powerful Ways and Means committee, which puts him in an even better position to help local farmers.  He says he can now influence tax and trade policy, and help usher a strong farm bill through the whole body.

Feenstra was first elected in 2018 and was re-elected last year.

Nunn will be the only Iowan on the House Ag Committee.  Both Senators from Iowa sit on the Senate Agriculture Committee.
