Sibley, IA (KICD)– A South Dakota man charged with attempting to evade multiple law enforcement agencies over has been sentenced after reaching a plea deal.
47-year-old Jeremy Bickett of Yankton originally pled not guilty in October after being accused in August of leading Osceola County authorities on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle that later turned into a manhunt in the Matlock area that involved at least six different agencies.
Bickett was scheduled to go trial earlier this month but online court records show he changed his plea to guilty just hours before going in front of a jury.
As part of the deal, he was convicted of eluding, operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and OWI with additional charges for theft and illegal possession of a firearm being dismissed.
Bickett was given a suspended prison sentence and two years probation for the eluding and vehicle theft charge along with credit for time served and suspended jail time for OWI.
