Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Spirit Lake School District has removed the interim title from its Elementary Principal making Jessica Vancura the permanent holder of the job.

Vancura was given the interim status back in June to replace the departing Kasey Huebner. She talked with KICD News at that time noting the pleasure of getting the nod to help lead the school district she grew up in.

 

Vancura had been with the district for nearly seven years before getting the promotion and is continuing to take the time to get acquainted with her new role.

District leadership originally opted to go the interim route considering the timing the opening came available with Superintendent Dr. David Smith feeling it would have been difficult to hire from outside before classes were set to begin.
