Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer Community Schools is working on a solution to a series of bussing concerns.

Transportation Director Melissa Merida shared her thoughts with the school board in December noting the top concern on her list is a shortage of drivers to get various activities from one place to another.

Merida says coaches are not currently an option for drivers.

Merida further shared concerns about how long some students are on the bus when being transported to and from the classroom.

The State of Iowa limits students 8th grade and under to being on a school bus to no more than an hour with high school ages limited to 75 minutes.
