Laurens, IA (KICD)– One person has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a pursuit Friday evening in Pocahontas County.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisting the Laurens Police Department with a single vehicle fatality crash when an unrelated vehicle reportedly collided with two patrol vehicles vehicle fleeing the scene.
The suspect vehicle was later located on Highway 10 by the Pocahontas Police Department with officers able to successfully deploy stop sticks. The driver is said to have continued revving the engine of the stalled vehicle until it then started on fire before then attempting to flee on foot.
The suspect has been identified as Ricky Burnett. He has been charged with second offense eluding, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, reckless driving, driving while suspended and not having proof of financial liability or SR-22 insurance.
