Spencer, IA (KICD)– Area lawmakers had a discussion during Saturday’s Egg and Issues Legislative forum on a review of the state licensing system for a number of industries.

The question from the public comes as state officials begin a review of everything that is currently in place from licensing to administrative rules to as Representative Megan Jones describes eliminate redundancies and items that are no longer needed.

Senator Dave Rowley commented during the discussion that none of this review is meant to reduce the quality of workers around the state.

Iowa is currently seen as one of the most highly licensed states in the country. The review is part of a three year process that will result in all administrative rules being rewritten from scratch.
