Sutherland, IA (KICD)–A portion of Sutherland is under a drinking water advisory following a temporary shut off of service for emergency repairs.
The Sutherland Water Supply issued a notice Monday morning noting crews were in the process of fixing a leaking hydrant that would require a portion of the distribution system to be shut down with the advisory being issues as a precautionary measure to ensure there is no bacteria build-up.
Affected homes in the area of Alpine Street have been notified and told it is best to boil all water before using it for consumption.
Officials say once service is restored those in the affected area may experience air in the water line and may also see some discolored water.
