Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer City Council on Monday night passed the first of three readings on an ordinance that would officially set a process for community members wanting to public right of way for a special event.
City Manager Dan Gifford says the new provisions would apply to events that take over anything like an alley or city street for a private event.
The ordinance also adds a fifty-dollar fee per application submitted for such an event, an aspect Councilman Brian Balk originally had some concerns on.
The first reading of the new ordinance passed unanimously with the final two reading scheduled to come up at future council meetings.
