Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Construction and Management company has performed a facilities study for the Spencer community schools. Jeff Herzberg says they found deficiencies in the Heating, ventilation, and cooling systems at the high school, Johnson Elementary, and Central Office.

Engineer Jack Mata says some of the issues might be systems that have been piece-medaled together over the years.

But many of the failures are because the HVAC systems have outlived their intended use.

The initial study from Site Logic was free and limited in scope. The firm would get paid if the Spencer school district actually hires them to oversee upgrades. Total replacement of HVAC systems at the three buildings could run in excess of 2 million dollars.
