Spencer, IA (KICD) — This week not withstanding, it’s been a long time since the snow has flown in Northwest Iowa. If you think that’s good for the snow removal budget for the city of Spencer, Public Works Director Mark White says you would be right.
Fuel is a major variable, but White says city workers come to work every day whether there’s snow to plow or not.
White prepares the snow removal budget each year based on the previous three years. Any savings go back into the city’s reserve fund, which is ALSO tapped when the winter turns out WORSE than expected.
