Sheldon, IA (KICD) — The Iowa legislature eliminated three optional levies that cities and counties could use under its property tax relief plan last year.
The city of Sheldon used an “event center” levy to help fund operations at Crossroads Pavillion. City Administrator Sam Kooiker says they’ll now use some of the city’s Hotel/Motel tax proceeds for that purpose.

The city council approved the new hotel / motel split last week.

The other levies eliminated under the tax overhaul plan were for libraries, and emergency spending.
