Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — There were thousands of visitors in the Iowa Great Lakes over the weekend for the 6th annual “Shake the Lakes” music festival. In Show Choir Competition Saturday, Van Meter High school won in the combined Class 1a and 2am with a show based on Board Games.

Bishop Heelan won 3A with their Noah’s Ark themed show. And Iowa City High won Class 4A with a show called “Northern Lights” with all music written by Scandanavian artists.

Finals Saturday night featured the top six scoring groups from the day, and Aberdeen, South Dakota improved on their daytime score and took top honors with their 20-minute program based on the movie Edward Scissorhands.

Since Spirit Lake hosted the event, they performed but did not compete in judging.
