Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Spencer School board was updated about problems with heating and cooling systems at the high school, Johnson Elementary, and central office during their January meeting. Operations Director Jason Albrecht said the three million dollars currently in the maintenance budget could address three problem areas. One, being new boilers at Johnson.

Another priority is new valves at the High School so the heat can be regulated on the second floor.

And, Albrecht thinks, new control systems could be installed at the High School and Johnson with funds the district already has on hand. The school board instructed him to bring back a more detailed plan at the March meeting.
Engineers from Site Logiq told the board in January that the HVAC systems have already been in service longer than their intended life.
