Ames, IA (KICD)– Summit Carbon Solutions announced Monday it is partnering with the world’s second largest corn ethanol producer to be a shipper for its proposed pipeline project.

Valero operates eight ethanol facilities in Iowa, two of which are in Albert City and Hartley, and adds more than one billion gallons of ethanol to the industry a year which ultimately will lead to the capture of over three million metric tons of CO2 annually.

Summit Agricultural Group Chairman Bruce Rastetter says that by “integrating Valero’s facilities into this project, his company will be able to help ensure the agriculture and biofuels industries remain dynamic and competitive while also meeting the needs of today and preparing for tomorrow.”

With the inclusion of Valero, Ames-based Summit Carbon’s project now extends to 57 ethanol production facilities across the Upper Midwest.
