Sioux City, IA (KICD)– The start of construction season on Highway 71 through the Iowa Great Lakes has officially been set for Monday of next week.
Weather permitting, the Iowa Department of Transportation plans to close the northbound lane of the highway from Broadway to Ackley Streets for pavement replacement with a detour being set up around the area using those two streets.
Work will also force the Stakeout Road at Highway 71 as part of the reconstruction work starting at Sanborn Avenue in Okoboji.
Access to all businesses in the construction zone will be maintained through the latest phase of the project and through traffic is once again asked to utilize Highways 86 and 9 to help reduce delays.
The DOT will hold a construction update meeting that will cover additional details on Phase 3 Thursday evening at 5:30 at the Majestic Pavillion in Arnolds Park.
