Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer’s department heads delivered their monthly activity reports to the City Council on Monday which included Fire Chief Jesse Coulson indicating February was yet another active month despite it being a couple of days shorter than the other eleven.

Police Chief Mark Warburton reported that his officers responded to 694 calls for service last month and made 43 arrests while also beginning a routine canvass for nuisance vehicles in the community.

Chief Warburton also noted that the two newest officers hired to join the Spencer Police Department are currently in their tenth week of training at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy with graduation expected in April. From there they will ride along with more tenured officers for a few months before being “street ready” this summer.
