Le Mars, IA (KICD)– A Spirit Lake man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Plymouth County last week.
The incident began as a routine traffic stop near Merril on last Wednesday when 34-year-old Geoffrey Oolman reportedly failed to stop for a deputy and took off reaching speeds in excess of 95 miles per hour.
The resulting chase took place on multiple state and county roads until Oolman vehicle is said to have gotten stuck in some mud on a secondary road north of Remsen before then allegedly fleeing on foot.
Oolman was later located and taken into custody with the help of a drone operator and K-9 unit. He was ultimately charged with second offense eluding, operating while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense, unlawful possession of prescription pills, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic violations.
