Estherville IA, (KICD)— At the Estherville City Council meeting Monday night, the elimination of Traffic Control Signal Devices at North 6th Street and 1st Avenue 2nd Avenue north were discussed. City Administrator Penny Clayton discusses why the city is interested in removing the stop lights.
Council Members discussed several different ways of slowing speed after a member of the community brought up speed concerns in the area. Clayton explains that four-way stops are not used to control speed.
Clayton says the city has also decided to do away with a parking restriction during overnight hours in winter months along the west side of north 6th street between 5th Avenue north and the north city limits. Due to an update to the snow ordinance which forces vehicles to be off streets in times of snow removal.
