Sioux Falls, SD (KICD)– We are in day three of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa as the focus turns to being fully prepared.
Being prepared for the impacts of the severe storm starts with knowing what various alerting systems are used for including Wireless Emergency Alerts that are sent to cell phones in the affect area.
Peters Rogers at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says the other piece to preparedness involves knowing what do with warning information which in most cases should involve seeking shelter.
And for those middle of the night storms that turn severe, one of the best pieces of equipment to have is a NOAA Weather Radio which can be programmed to sound for a selected area.
