POCAHONTAS, IA – (KICD) Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency in connection with the Iowa Education services for the blind and visually impaired recently finished an arts program designed specifically for the visually impaired.
The leader of the new AEA arts program is Carrie Spellmeyer, a teacher for the visually impaired at Prairie Lakes AEA. Spellmeyer spoke with KICD about how the program got started.
Spellmeyer explains the differences between a traditional art program and the AEA arts program.
Spellmeyer says the program includes other things besides art.
Spellmeyer says some of the student’s art was put on display in Waterloo and one her students is submitting art to the American Printing House for the Blind in Kentucky for their contest.
