Spencer, Ia (KICD) – Girls Tennis had Spencer beat Fort Dodge 10-1. Overall, the Tigers won 125 matches to Fort Dodges 28. Coach Bob Schlaeger is happy with the start to the season. He said it was good to knock the rust off and he saw some good things that they have been working on.

In Boys Tennis, Spencer lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton 9-0 and Fort Dodge 6-3. Cole McDanel and Ade’ Thomas were the singles winner for the Tigers against Fort Dodge while the Doubles team of Bergstadt and Gerlock were the loan winners. Thomas had the closest singles score against the high-powered Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors team in an 8-5 loss. Spencer Coach Joe Steele said despite the two losses, he is not disappointed with the way they played. Steele thought the Tigers were improved Thursday compared to Monday’s win and is happy with the way Spencer’s skills are trending.

In other Boys Tennis scores, Spirit Lake shutout Cherokee 9-0, and Storm Lake edged out Estherville Lincoln Central 5-4.
