Spirit Lake, Ia (KICD) – It was an early season Conference tilt for the Spencer Girls Tennis Team as they traveled to take on Spirit Lake/Okoboji.

The Tigers were outscored int he singles matches 3-2.  Julia Gastelum and Keegan Nissen each picked up victories for the Tigers with Gastelum shutting out her opponent Cambrie Kleckner.

In the Doubles, Gastelum and Nissen would team up to take on Kleckner and Lucy Androski.  The Tigers duo would come away with a convincing 10-5 victory.  That would be Spencer’s only doubles match win though as Spencer lost 6-3.

Coach Bob Schlaeger said, “We played not to lose.  Our approach to the game gave it to them before we even played.”

Spencer drops to 1-1 on the season and look forward to their home Tournament where they will see Aplington-Parkersburg, Bishop Heelan, Estherville Lincoln Central, Sioux City North, Sioux City West, Spirit Lake/Okoboji, and Urbandale.
