Sioux City, IA (KICD)– A Sanborn man accused of robbing an O’Brien County bank earlier this year is now facing a federal charge.

40-year-old Del Martinnez Evans Jr. was originally charged with second degree robbery and second degree theft after he reportedly walked into Sanborn Savings Bank in January and handed a teller a note demanding money. He was arrested a short time later at his nearby home.

Online court records show the local charges against Evans Jr. have been dismissed with a new federal charge of bank robbery by force being filed. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years behind bars.
