Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer Main Street officially awarded its first round of microgrants for the year Monday evening.
Board Vice President Eric Meeter tells KICD News there was some competition this time around with eight applicants asking for a total of 70 thousand dollars.
Spencer Community Theatre received over 22 hundred dollars to upgrade its kitchen; Jessica Knock received nearly 78 hundred dollars to rebrand her retail shop in downtown; and Medlar Coffee Company is getting 10 thousand dollars to help them relocate from a side street to the 300 block of Grand Avenue. Heather Belgrade tells us the move is already underway.
Main Street officials also announced the official return of Carroll’s Bakery to Downtown Spencer under the ownership of Zack and Megan Stuckey. They are hoping to reopen the doors in the next couple of weeks.
