Lake Park, IA (KICD) — The Harris Lake Park School Board intends to hold a bond issue election this year to either add on to the middle school and high school or renovate the 1976 building. They’ve hired architect Matt Basye from Sioux City to examine both options.

Basye says a new 35 thousand square foot addition to the East of the middle and high school would run about 10.4 million dollars. It’s more difficult to put a dollar sign on renovating the current 60 thousand square foot elementary.

Additional expenses for moving the elementary would be site prep and building new parking lots and playgrounds. And then the district would have to decide how to dispose of the old building.
Basye hopes to have more specific numbers for the HLP school board next month.
