Sheldon, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A semi-trailer engulfed in flames on Highway 60 forced Sheldon fire fighters to attack the fire with two hand lines. The fire occured near mile marker 39 around 5:10 pm Monday, May 18. The fire was under control in 10 minutes, according to the report.
The truck driver was able to unhook the semi-truck quickly and was not damaged. Over 3000 gallons of water and 10 gallons of foam controlled the fire, and the trailer and contents were destroyed. THe cause of the fire appears to be a brake issue on the trailer.
Sheldon Fire Department paged Ashton Fire due to the location of the fire being just 1/2 mile south of the county lyne and multiple reports of the fire being reported.
Also assisting was Iowa State Patrol, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and Sheldon Police Department.
