Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Spirit Lake police have charged an Ames woman with multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop Monday night.

32 year old Sirena Lindsay was pulled over at 11pm at the Highway 9 and 71 intersections, apparently after the officer observed her using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle. The incident report says that cocaine was found in the vehicle, and that Lindsay kicked the arresting officer in the stomach and shoulder while she was being taken into custody, leading to two counts of assault on a law enforcement official and interference with official acts.

She was also charged with several traffic violations including improper vehicle registration.
