Arnold’s Park, Ia (KICD) – The Cyclone Tailgate tour made a stop in Arnold’s Park on Tuesday. Spencer Radio Group’s Rhonda Wedeking was able to speak with various Iowa State Athletic Department personalities.
Athletic Director Jamie Pollard talked about the importance of Iowa State’s annual tailgate tour.
The Iowa State Football season is approaching quickly. The Cyclone coaching staff has done well recruiting within the state in the last few years, something the program has struggled with in the past. One of the top in-state recruits that are making an impact is Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Cooper Ebel, who Coach Matt Campbell says will be competing for a starting spot on defense.
It was recently announced that Iowa State will open up the 2025 season against Kansas State in Ireland. Pollard says the Cyclones being selected is due to the recent success and the supportive fanbase.
The Iowa State Women’s Basketball team had a lot of success in the 2023-2024 season. Freshman and Algona native Audi Crooks was a big part of that success.
That is Iowa State Women’s Basketball Coach Bill Fennelly. He talked about the passion Iowans have about Women’s College Basketball, especially the dedication of Cyclone fans.
In this transfer portal age, it is hard to keep a team together for multiple years, especially in Basketball. Coach TJ Otzelberger The Iowa State Men managed to keep a lot of their production from last year while also hitting the transfer portal hard.
The Cyclone Wrestling team claimed their first Big 12 Championship in nearly a decade and a half. Though they graduated some program cornerstones, Coach Kevin Dresser is looking forward to seeing what the 2024-2025 team can do.
