STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — An early morning incident is leading to multiple charges for a Storm Lake man Sunday.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of Lincoln Road around 4:15 a.m. on June 21st for a report of suspicious activity.

Police say a victim reported being approached by a man who allegedly offered to sell narcotics. When the offer was refused, the man reportedly threatened to shoot the victim if law enforcement was contacted.

The suspect was later identified as 26-year-old Julio Hernandez Villegas, who was located by officers a short time later.

Authorities say Hernandez Villegas physically resisted arrest, with at least one officer sustaining minor injuries before he was taken into custody.

During a search, police report narcotics were found in Hernandez Villegas’ pockets.

Hernandez Villegas was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and held on a $13,300 bond.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class C felony; first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor; interference with official acts causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
