New Northwest Iowa Now app launches with updated design, bookmarking, search, weather

Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now – To provide you with better ways to get local news and information, Northwest Iowa Now is launching a new mobile app this week with several upgrades and added features.

In addition to a cleaner, easier-to-use look, the new app includes:

Saved: Got a push alert for an article that you don’t have time to read right now? Click the bookmark icon to save it for later. Your saved articles will appear under a button at the bottom. Click the bookmark again when you’re done.

Weather: Click the temperature icon up top to get current conditions and the forecast – both hourly and daily. Plus, there’s an improved local radar map with rolling radar going back 15 minutes.

Search: The new search mode is quick and easy, allowing you to check articles dating back to previous years.

Night mode: For those who prefer a dark background, click the night mode icon.

Share: It’s much easier to share articles with the new app, passing news to your friends by text, email, or over Facebook.

Push alerts: A more robust tool for breaking news notifications. Check under Account to make sure they’re turned on. (There’s no need to sign in.)

Breaking: When major news breaks, rolling text will appear across the top of the app.

Your new Northwest Iowa Now app, sponsored by Thrivent Financial Jason Jacobs and Pete Howe Sanitation, is live and it should update for you this week if it hasn’t already. Open the app to check it out, and be sure your Breaking News Notifications are on. We’ll be tweaking the new app in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for more changes as we make it easier to keep you up to date on local news.
