WORTHINGTON, MN (Northwestiowanow) – Lane closures on Interstate 90 near Worthington are expected to impact travel for drivers in Northwest Iowa starting next week.

Beginning July 6, eastbound I-90 between Diagonal Road and Highway 60 will be reduced to a single lane as crews prepare for future bridge replacement work. Westbound lanes will also see intermittent closures.

Those changes are expected to affect commuters traveling from communities like Spirit Lake, Spencer, and Estherville.

Drivers should also be aware that ramp closures near Worthington will begin in August. Only one ramp will close at a time, but detours could still add extra travel time.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the work is expected to wrap up by early September, but reduced speeds and delays are likely throughout the construction zone.

For real-time travel information, Northwest Iowa drivers are encouraged to check the Iowa 511 app before heading north.
