West Bend, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) — No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle rollover accident near West Bend earlier this month.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at approximately 2:15 a.m. on July 9 to the 5300 block of 475th Street for a reported rollover accident.
Authorities say Kaylynn Reed, 21, of Pocahontas, was driving westbound in a 1999 Toyota Camry when a raccoon entered the roadway. Reed reportedly swerved to avoid the animal, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
The car entered the north ditch and rolled onto its top. Reed was not injured in the crash.
The Toyota Camry sustained extensive damage and was considered a total loss.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wickman Towing.
