Emmetsburg, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) — A 49-year-old Emmetsburg man was cited following a single-vehicle accident in rural Palo Alto County on July 8.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident at approximately 4:12 p.m. in the 4700 block of 360th Street.

Authorities say Troy Strohman, 49, of Emmetsburg, was driving a 2017 Dodge Ram westbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The pickup entered the north ditch, struck a field drive approach, and continued into a nearby bean field where it came to rest.

Strohman was not injured in the crash.

The Dodge Ram sustained an estimated $15,000 in damage, according to the sheriff’s office.

Following an investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office cited Strohman for failure to maintain control, a simple misdemeanor.
