Spencer, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) — The City of Spencer is ramping up discussions on how it handles stray and feral cats.
During the regular city council meeting on Monday, July 6, Spencer City Manager Kevin Robinson reviewed the city’s current animal ordinance.
Concerned citizen Ann Ewoldt urged the council to review its ordinance and consider a community cat policy similar to those adopted elsewhere in Iowa.
Robinson noted the city does not currently sponsor TNR efforts, although a recent TNR event was conducted by People for Pets.
The issue is expected to return to the council for additional discussion in the coming weeks and months.
